Being a fan of the first Shrek it’s disheartening to see the quality of writing diminish with each installment. The last in the series being the worst of the bunch. There is nothing left to tell in the Shrek universe, money is the only reason this franchise exists.

Shrek Forever After tries desperately to recreate what made the original so good. Unfortunately all we end up with are flat jokes and boring musical numbers. A decent film for young kids, but there is little in here for the adults. If not for the huge success of the 2nd Shrek film, this would have ended up going straight to video store shelves, or more than likely not been made at all.

The cast is good as always, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz and Antonio Banderas return in good form. The bad news is the 3d doesn’t nearly deliver on the level that How to Train Your Dragon did. Worth checking out as a last hurrah for Shrek fans, otherwise skip.

  1. I love all Eddie Murphy movies. I like also the movie Meet Dave where he co stars with Elizabeth Banks.
