Watch Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen in the Mirror, Mirror Trailer

After seeing Charlize Theron turn in a mesmerizing performance as the evil queen in the amazing trailer for Snow White and the Huntsman watching Julia Roberts overact in a ridiculous comedy as the same character is almost gut wrenching. Mirror, Mirror looks like a porno from the 70’s, and the bad acting mixed with horrid dialogue doesn’t help. I can’t see one reason why anyone would be interested in watching this. Strange just how different this is from director’s Tarsem Singh other works The Cell, The Fall and Immortals. With Mirror, Mirror he seems to really be embracing a Bollywood style, there are several instances with flashy garments, dancing and especially the opening music. Strange that the first trailer for this would choose to focus on the evil queen as well. Could we be seeing identical marketing campaign’s down the line for both Mirror, Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman? I hope so, it will be interesting to see who truly is the fairest of them all with a level playing field. Although Mirror, Mirror has a lot of catching up to do on poster artwork (also notice there’s no title on this trailer) whereas S.W. and the Huntsman has done a bang up job on all different types of posters, including character posters and banners. But in the end this is just too goofy and would seem more at home on the Hallmark channel than on theater screens.

Relativity’s Mirror Mirror is a spectacular reimagining of the classic fairy tale starring Oscar winner Julia Roberts as the Queen, Lily Collins as Snow White, Armie Hammer as Prince Alcott, Sean Bean as the King and Nathan Lane as the Queen’s hapless and bungling servant, Brighton. An evil queen steals control of a kingdom and an exiled princess enlists the help of seven resourceful rebels to win back her birthright in a spirited adventure comedy filled with jealousy, romance and betrayal that will capture the imagination of audiences the world over.

Visionary director Tarsem Singh rewrites fairy tale history as a wicked enchantress (Roberts) schemes and scrambles for control of a spirited orphan’s (Collins) throne and the attention of a charming prince (Hammer). When Snow White’s beauty wins the heart of the prince that she desperately pursues, the Queen banishes her to the forest, where a ravening man-eating beast hungrily awaits.

Rescued by a band of diminutive highway robbers, Snow White grows into an indomitable young woman determined to take back her realm from the treacherous Queen. With the support of her subjects, she roars into action in an epic battle that blends spectacle, magic and contemporary humor in Singh’s signature, jaw-dropping visual style.

  1. Despite some of the negative press it has gotten, I think Mirror, Mirror is going to be good. Julia Roberts is always great on screen, in my opinion. And Lily Collins looks awesome as Snow White (side note – she was also great in The Blind Side).

    1. Gerry I’ll agree with you that Lily Collins does look good as Snow White, but I just don’t like the direction this one went in versus Snow White and the Huntsman. Julia Roberts just seems to be going way to big and over the top here. It is good to get a differing opinion on this, be nice if both movies did well, but I have a feeling this will falter at the box office.
