Dr. Ryan Rock (Sandra Bullock) is a remarkable medical professional on her first space shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney) in order of his last trip before retiring. But on the relatively routine spacewalk, catastrophe strikes. The space shuttle is ruined, leaving Rock and Kowalsky totally only–tethered to just one another and spiraling out to the blackness. The noisy silence tells them they will have misplaced any link to World…and any opportunity for saving. As anxiety turns to stress, every drink of air takes apart at what little air is left. But the only real way house might be to proceed farther out to the frightening area of room.
