Red Box Adding $1.50 Blu-Ray Disc Rentals – News
By Trevor Anderson | Thursday, July 29th, 2010
Red Box has announced that it has starting rolling out Blu-Ray disc rentals in over 13,000 kiosks nationwide. These rentals will be nominally priced at $1.50, which makes Netflix not the only ones making customers pay more for Blu-Ray rentals now. I noticed these in my location (southern California) a few days ago, but opted to still rent DVDs for just a dollar. In my opinion Blu-Ray is only worth it for certain movies. Will you start paying the extra 50 cents to rent high def or just stick to the $1 a night DVD rentals?
Len Wiseman Directing New Total Recall, Die Hard 5 in Question – News
By Trevor Anderson | Thursday, July 29th, 2010
Not only is Len Wiseman working on The World After and Underworld 4, but now Sony is in the process of tying him down to their Total Recall remake. If anyone can direct a satisfying action movie it’s Wiseman, which makes this news bittersweet as it seems that his current roster would interfere with him directing Die Hard 5. After Die Hard 4 Bruce Willis has been continually quoted as saying that he would love to work with Wiseman on the fifth installment.
There is a possibility here though, if Wiseman doesn’t direct the fourth Underworld, after all we have no – Continue reading…

This trailer is nothing more than hype. Nothing is really revealed about the story, just a lot of kick-ass visuals that will have you wanting to see this regardless of the story. Zack Snyder did a great job telling a very visual story with ‘300′, and now it looks as if he’s applying that same style to this, subbing a group of extraordinary and beautiful girls for the manly and ripped Spartans. Hitting theaters in 2011.

Ben Affleck’s second outing as director, although the advertising tries to hide that fact, centers on a group of thieves knocking off banks in Boston. This taunt trailer looks like a cross between ‘Point Break’ and ‘Heat’ with a little ‘Departed’ thrown in for good measure. Whatever maybe the case, Affleck has proven himself an interesting talent behind the camera and after a long screen absence its nice to have him back minus the off screen baggage. This could be fall’s sleeper hit.

No matter how hard the ads try to suggest that Angelina Jolie’s character Evelyn Salt, in the new film of the same name, is possibly a ‘double agent’ working for Russian Intelligence no movie-goer whose ever seen a political action thriller before will be surprised to figure out that she’s really an ‘ex operative’ wrongly accused with only a limited amount of time to clear her name before all hell breaks loose. The surprise is how believable and comfortable Jolie is as an action heroine, she more than holds her own here. Especially after an extended torture sequence – Continue reading…
Black Dynamite (2009) – Review
By Jason Rugaard | Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

A spot-on satire of the ‘blaxploitaion’ films of the 1970’s. The genre’s strengths and shortcomings are lovingly recreated by director Scott Sanders; Michael Jai White embodies the title character ‘Dynamite’. A loose cannon seeking revenge for the murder of his kid brother. As he works his way through the criminal underworld, our hero stumbles upon a conspiracy to shrink the genitals of all black men. A hilarious throwback to the genre classics ‘Three the Hard Way‘ and of course ‘Shaft‘. Jai White is excellent as the afro-centric Kung-Fu bad-ass, he brings loads of charisma to the action scenes – Continue reading…
The Reason Why a Schwarzenegger-less Reboot Never Works
By Jason Rugaard | Tuesday, July 20th, 2010
After returning home from a screening of the newly rebooted ‘Predators’ I sat down to write a review for my column and realized, that I was absolutely indifferent to the film. While the picture was playing I enjoyed it, but the minute I left the theater a faint sadness drifted over me. I’d been sucked in to paying for a sub-par ‘re-imagining’ of one of my favorite films. To be fair, this current ‘reboot’ was far superior to the absurd ‘AVP’ and the repulsive ‘AVP2′. It’s probably the best sequel to the original film. However Adrian Brody and Laurence Fishburne – Continue reading…
The Expendables: Call to Arms – Fan Trailer
By Trevor Anderson | Tuesday, July 20th, 2010
Arguably one of the most fun, original and inspiring fan trailers made. Taken down for a short while by the MPAA (they didn’t agree with the use of the green band on the front of the trailer as it had said it was approved by them, which it wasn’t), ‘Call to Arms’ goes out to all men of any age, to take back the theaters from girly movies and bring back the good old days of blood and guts action. Watch it, then take an oath to see ‘The Expendables’ on August 13th.
Steven Seagal’s Latest Role MMA Trainer for UFC Fighter Anderson Silva? – News
By Jason Rugaard | Tuesday, July 20th, 2010
At age 58 Steven Seagal is trying a new role; as coach and sensi to UFC Champion Anderson Silva. This video clip shows the still quick and powerful Akido master showing the ‘Champ’ a few moves. I’m highly impressed and from the look on Silva’s face after a wrist lock, so is he. Maybe this is the beginning of a new career for the aging screen vet or at least another job to add to his growing list of professions. Whatever maybe the case;he still looks like he could kick some ass.
