I don’t know what to think of this movie the review says it is horrible pretty much where Mike said that he likes it. I don’t like the fact that there is no solution to any of their problems just makes for a questionable movie. I am glad I didn’t see the movie in theaters or have Netflix to where I will be over paying the price for this movie. Like my DISH co-worker always tells me, “We don’t waste any money just time with Blockbuster @Home.” He could be more right about that because you don’t waste any money at all just the time if you don’t like the movie. I hope it isn’t as bad as the review says it is!

I loved this movie. Im a pretty big Sandler fan. I thought this movie was funny but the best part was al paccino doing the dunkin donut commercial at the end.

I gotta tell you, it pained me to no end to watch this again. My son, who is 8, LOVED IT! However, 25 minutes into the movie the reason I hadn’t watched the movie since the it’s original opening weekend hit me like a ton of bricks…the movie, although visually stunning, is a load of crap. The dialogue throughout the film is borderline insulting, the 3D was practically non-existent, and Jar Jar Binks still sucked! The one scene I anticipated looking somewhat decent was the podrace, since I figured George would make an extra effort on what I figured was his favorite act; unfortunately, I watched just about the whole scene without the 3D glasses, because they weren’t necessary.

You made the comment during one of your earlier podcast that this is the Star Wars that children of today have come to know, and I couldn’t agree more. Hopefully as they get older they are going to realize how terrible this film really was, and gain more of an appreciation for the original trilogy.

I was not impressed with this movie at all. The animation was not great at all. And the way the characters act and talk with each other is not great for kids any way you look at it. I can understand having “bad guys” and a story line good vs evil but honestly, this movie was horrible and even at $1.25 rental price from Redbox it was a big waste of money. We stopped the show after 20 minutes and explained to our 6 and 9 year old that they are not allowed to act or talk like that so we really don’t want them watching shows that have characters behaving how we ask them not to.

I’m honestly surprised the review of this movie was so high! I do not recommend this movie at all.

I went to see Safe House last night, and the theater was pretty packed. The line for The Vow was outrageous; and had I known so many hot looking women were going to be seeing it at that hour, I might have gone as well! Star Wars had already been seated, but there were a fair number of fanboys in their costumes with light sabers in hand. Journey 2 was playing on the other side, so I couldn’t gauge the interest.

I’m sorry if this posts twice, I thought I submitted it a short while earlier but I had laptop issues and it didn’t appear to have gone through.

So I went to see a midnight showing of Safe House and the theater was pretty crowded…The line for The Vow was ridiculous, and Star Wars had already seated (with a bunch of fanboys in costume with lightsabres in hand). The Box Office is going to be HUGE this weekend!

Star ratings aren’t comparable across movies, they are how entertained I was in that moment. All critics do it the same way. Therefore a low budget movie like this one can get 3 stars, the same as say a Spielberg flick. That of course doesn’t mean you have to agree, there’s no joke here (although joking is allowed). If I were casting the movie, I don’t know that I could find someone better suited to play Haymitch. Jennifer Lawrence has been fantastic in everything (and let me tell you, after seeing her in person at the Oscars last year….she’s a vision of beauty I won’t soon forget!). I really hope/think they nailed this one.

Couldn’t agree with you more! I’m just starting the second book, and the thing I like most about the movie is the cast. Tell me Woody Harrelson isn’t perfect for Haymitch, and I’ve been liking Jennifer Lawrence in everything I see her in. I knew the cast before I read the book so I imagined them as the characters while reading – perfect fit.

The casting seems to be spot on, and visually it looks fantastic! I’m stoked that the film’s going to be released in IMAX!
I’m just about finished the first book and will be jumping into the 2nd immediately once I finish. A really enjoyable series, and from the trailers it appears the films may do the books justice.

My predictions for the weekend totals:

Journey 2: Mysterious Island – $17
Safe House – $27
Star Wars: Phantom Menace 3D – I think this could potentially reach 40+, but I’m going to go conservative and say $38
The Vow – Taking into consideration that it’s Valentine’s Day weekend, I’m going to play it safe with $24. My gut still tells me that it comes in closer to $18, but my head says it pulls in a decent sized female audience.

Jason, your reasoning is valid. A number of the women in my office have already made plans too see the film this weekend. I was way off last weekend on my The Woman in Black prediction, but I’m feeling this one is going to under perform…have to hold off right now on what I think it’s going to do.

It may sound insane that I’m forecasting a $34 million opening weekend for The Vow. However on previous V-day weekends Dear John opened with $30,468,614 and Valentines Day with $56,260,707.
