Schmucks could probably end where Anchorman ended.
It’s true that Date Night had little competition and that allowed low weekend drop offs and close to a $100 million gross. It’s hard for me to say what Schmucks will do as I feel like people are fairly split as to if it was a good movie or not, with slightly more leaning toward good, but it still seems close to me, not sure if it will have any legs. A 3x multiplier is safe, but it has a possibility of doing more. With The Other Guys opening next weekend it should take a chunk out of Schmucks which shouldn’t hold to Date Night’s 33.7% 2nd weekend drop.
I still think Schmucks opened too low to have a shot at 100M. It should be good enough for a 3x multiplier, but not Date Night’s multiplier. Plus, The Other Guys will certainly hurt its chances.
