The trailer for the fifth installment in the ‘Fast&Furious’ franchise is fantastic. I love this series, with the exception of the second film. Universal pushed the release date up from its announced June premiere to the lucrative month of April. The last sequel opened to over 70million in April of 2009. This latest pic reunites regulars from the entire series with the brilliant addition of Dwayne Johnson to the cast.
No shit, I stand corrected. Thanks for pointing that out, but yeah, Saw costs nothing to make as to where FF is working with a much larger budget I’m sure. Popcorn flicks will be popcorn flicks, they just typically aren’t my thing. I really hope I don’t sound like some stupid movie snob because I just know what I like.
No snobbery at all, I just liked the comparison between Saw and F&F so I wanted to go a little deeper with that. It’s important to know what you like, especially if you’re going to spend 2 hours sitting and watching something. Personally I like popcorn flicks, there’s intelligence in every movie, you just have to look in the right places. :)
The Fast and the Furious franchise has out grossed the Saw franchise. Of course Saw movies are cheaper to make, but there are also seven of them and only four flicks in the F&F cannon. The Saw franchise took a heavy hit with six and now seven didn’t do that well, even with the 3d ticket prices. While Fast Five will surely pull in as much if not more than its predecessor.
Unadjusted Worldwide Totals:
F&F: $954M
Saw: $856M
LOL …. ah shit! I posted that before I read your review Jason. I admit, I loved the first one as I was in high school and it started this CRAZY fad of kids buying ‘rice rocket’ cars and turning them into little racers. Everything after the 1st movie just didn’t do it for me. But hey, maybe I’ll catch the 5th one via alternate movie viewing sources and actually like it! Props for the site Jason, it looks great and I’m going to have to navigate around this place more often!
Oh jesus. Another shitty installment to the series. This is strictly a cash grab. See: the ‘Saw’ series. The SAW movies made shit tons of money, ‘Fast’ won’t make nearly as much but hey, if there are actually people who will pay to see this shit then why the hell not make it? I won’t be going.
