Where to watch Dracula 2000

In the millenium version of this classic Gothic horror we find Abraham Van Helsing (Plummer), who has tangled with Count Dracula (Butler) in the past, working as an English antiques dealer. Simon (Miller) is a vampire hunter in training under his apprenticeship. Van Helsing and Simon travel from London to New Orleans to rescue Van Helsing’s daughter Mary (Waddell) from the family’s life long nemesis – Dracula.
It’s well known that, amongst many other things, Harvey and Bob Weinstein are notorious for taking over a film and overseeing the final cut. Sometimes the movies work out (Halloween H:20, Mimic), and other times the films are a disaster (Hellraiser Bloodlines, Imposter). In the case of Dracula 2000, all the elements gel to create a very entertaining B-movie that is well-photographed and fast-paced.
Gerard Butler, in his first American studio production, is Dracula, and his slender, long-haired count is a long way from the buff and hair-buzzed Spartan that would eventually launch him into stardom. Dracula 2000 is the kind of movie you are ashamed to tell your friends you enjoy. The film looks good; it’s fast-paced, just gory enough, and won’t completely insult your intelligence. Patrick Lussier, a prolific producer of entertaining cinematic junk food, is responsible for the film’s screen direction and has co-authored the lean screenplay.
