Sex and the City 2 (2010) – Review

Where to watch Sex and the City 2

1 1/2 Stars

The sequel to the wildly popular first film is a long, unfunny and at times embarrassing experience. The four gals from New York are back and more self-absorbed than ever. Carrie is married and upset her former playboy now prefers evenings at home watching old movies. Charlotte is concerned that her husband is eying the new nanny who doesn’t believe in wearing bras. Miranda has to battle with a chauvinistic boss while Samantha is battling the onset of menopause. So what’s a girl to do? Descend on Abu Dhabi with more outfits and accessories than humanly possible. The HBO series that proceeded these films was clever, original, funny and vulgar. Something that has been sorely missing from the feature films. The problem here is that, these characters and their lives may be better-suited to a half-hour television show than a nearly 2½-hour movie. Even fans of the series will be disappointed.

  1. Yeah, this was a huge disappointment. The only positive for me was Miranda — I like the way she was written. But overall — full of cliches, stereotypes, elitism, and self-importance. It’s a shame that such ground-breaking TV show, with smart, snappy dialogue, has come to this.
