During the press conference for Predators at SXSW, Robert Rodriguez announced his plans to reboot his lucrative Spy Kids franchise. This puts the kibosh on Rodriguez directing the Jetsons movie, but that’s no surprise with the many projects he has been attached to and latter backed out of in the past five years. Rodriguez says this will be a total reboot with a new cast and taking place ten years in the future. The film will be released in 3-D, and Rodriguez promises a more advanced approach than that of Spy Kids 3D, which used the old blue and red glasses in its theatrical run (long before Avatar and the newer digital polarized 3d was widely available). If you know the franchise then this installment sounds like a real treat.
