Date Night (2010) – Review

Where to watch Date Night

3 Stars

Date Night pairs two of the current best comedian actors in a fun romp around the city. Steve Carell and Tina Fey play off each other very well. Perhaps in another life they could have actually married. The movie is quite simple and the situations they get in aren’t necessarily funny by themselves. But inject Carell and Fey and watch their reactions. Instant comedy. Mark Wahlberg proves that a straight man can also be funny. He plays an ex-black ops type who (a little something for the ladies) never puts on a shirt. He’s basically the Kevin Smith character from Die Hard 4, only his physique is the exact opposite.

The basic plot is something we’ve all seen before, a case of mistaken identity. But that’s ok as Carell and Fey make the beaten path enjoyable again. Date Movie is surprisingly more of a date movie than Valentine’s Day. The actors are older, but the comedic performances work well even for the younger generation.

Director: Shawn Levy
Stars: Steve Carell, Tina Fey, Mark Wahlberg

  1. Good point KP…building up your movie trade-in points with your wife…I’ve done that with many a romantic comedy…too bad I wasted my tokens on Avatar 2-D. I guess I really missed the boat not seeing it in 3-D. The story line was so predictable, I can’t believe it was as highly acclaimed as it was.

  2. God I hated Valentine’s Day, such a terrible movie. The only good part is that my wife said she would let me pick the movie now since she picked a movie that sucked so bad.

I’m hoping to see this right after I finally go watch How to Train Your Dragon.
