I think we may have found a winner for worst movie of 2011, and I’m definitely seeing it in theaters. Real Steel is a new sci fi action flick starring Hugh Jackman and Evangeline Lilly. The film is based on a short story by Richard Matheson which was originally adapted as an episode for The Twilight Zone. The plot is simple, men use large robots as surrogates in fighting matches. It’s like the ultimate version of Robot Wars. This is something that would have been perfect for a 90’s release, which brings us to Robot Jox. Anyone remember this Stuart Gordon directed Charles Band produced gem from 1990? It even spawned a sequel that had absolutely nothing to do with it, Crash and Burn AKA Robot Jox 2: Crash and Burn. Having just watched the Real Steel trailer I’m sure it’ll bring back a flash of fake, but awesome giant robot fights. For those who don’t remember, or weren’t even born yet, check out the trailers for both films below and let us know what you think. To me they are quite similar, and I hope Real Steel doesn’t turn out to be just a clever title.
I guess its one step before using them as avatars of war :P
You asked about the selection at swapadvd.com. On my wishlist I have the three Veronica Mars and Shrek 3&4 (don’t judge, I babysit!)
All VMs are available but I don’t have enough credits to get them yet. You can buy credits at $5 apiece but that negates the savings. I’m 6 of 7 waiting for Shrek 3 (was 16 of 16 when I added it to my wishlist last week). Shrek4 I started at 90 something and am currently 74. They’re both moving but slowly. I’ve only had requests for three dvds, out of 20something listed but its only been a week and I’m patient :)
did you see the humpty dumpty movie is out
As far as I can tell it isn’t out. I’m not sure what to say about that plot either, strange idea for a flick. I’ll need to see more than a comic book trailer to pass any real judgement though. http://www.humptydumptymovie.com/ for those that haven’t seen it.
