The Green Hornet (2011) – Review

Where to watch The Green Hornet

2 1/2 Stars

The superhero/action-comedy no one wanted is actually a lot better than any pre-release buzz would suggest. A newly slimmed Seth Rogen is Brit Reed, a spoiled heir to a newspaper empire. When his father dies, Reed along with his sidekick Kato take to the streets in the name of justice. Taiwanese superstar Jay Chou steals the film as the martial arts master and chauffeur Kato. Not an impressive feat when sharing the screen with such acting heavyweights as Christopher Waltz and Cameron Diaz.

If Pineapple Express and Mystery Men mated, this sloppy, overlong and frequently hilarious film would be its offspring. A minor entry into the overpopulated superhero genre. 3D sequences range from impressive to atrocious, sometimes within the same sequence. However the good will on screen is enough to make you forget how very thin the screenplay really is.

  1. Jay Chou is Taiwanese, not Korean. A 2 seccond search on Wikipedia you would find out he has nothing to do with Korea.

    1. Thanks for letting us know, we changed it. Unfortunately we are a smaller site and don’t have editors. There’s only two of us so sometimes mistakes do slide by.
