Brad Pitt Planning to Retire From Acting in Three Years at Age 50

Brad Pitt recently spoke with Australia’s 60 Minutes and revealed his plan to retire from acting in three years at age fifty. But not to worry Pitt fans, he will continue in the world of film behind the scenes as producer. Right now his line-up for the next three years include Cogan’s Trade (2012), World War Z (2012), Voyage of Time (voice only narration, 2013), and Twelve Years a Slave (2014), I wonder how far his slate will expand now.

“I am really enjoying the producing side and development of stories and putting those pieces together … getting stories to the plate that might have had a tougher time otherwise.”

And speaking to The Sunday Times’ Culture magazine:
“We all have a shelf life, and mine is coming — although there are a couple of things I’d still like to do. I am looking forward to playing a foul-mouthed grumpy old dude one day, that’s for sure.”

So his retirement won’t be forever, as he does want to come back and play old man roles. Guess he must have really like working on Benjamin Button. Will you miss Pitt? What age do you think he returns at, or does he even pull the trigger on this retirement plan at all?

  1. well first of all i just can’t believe he’s about to be 50 in a couple of years! …I think he will try and stay behind the scenes for a while but i’m sure with the right role (or paycheck) he could be convinced to come back to acting.

    1. Ya I think once an actor always an actor. I will say I don’t think he acts for the money, mainly since he’s one half of a power couple- Angelina probably makes enough for the two of them, put them together and they’ve got no financial woes. This might be something he’s doing to spend more time with his family? In reality he probably wants to take some time and try out some other hats in the filmmaking craft. He’ll be back, I’m sure of it.
