Confirmed: Schwarzenegger and Stallone Team Up Again in ‘The Tomb’

Worried that Arnold Schwarzenegger appearing in Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables 2 won’t be enough machismo for ya? Worry not action fans, it’s been confirmed that both will be teaming up for the Summit Entertainment prison escape flick The Tomb. I can’t begin to gush about this project, especially for these two. Here’s a little run down of the plot and their characters.

Stallone will be playing the main character Ray Breslin, the world’s foremost authority on structural integrity. He’s not only analyzed high tech prison designs, he’s created them. But now he must escape from a prison of his own design, a feat that will challenge his ingenuity and knowledge to the max. Then there’s Schwarzenegger’s Church, described as a complex inmate encompassing all shades of grey. He pulls the prisoners together and stops them from losing their humanity as they fight to stay alive.

Producer Mark Canton had this to say about the project…

“I am thrilled to be making ‘The Tomb’ with two film icons – Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. It is the perfect pairing for this high octane thriller. Robbie Brenner, Emmett/Furla, Kevin King-Templeton and I have been working long and hard with Summit to bring them together for this dynamic project.”

The Tomb is set to start filming in Louisiana this spring and helmed by Swedish director Mikael Håfström (The Rite, Derailed (the Clive Owen one, not the JCVD one), 1408). Schwarzenegger has currently wrapped on Jee-woon Kim’s The Last Stand where he’s on the other side of the law playing a Sheriff. Both can be seen this summer in The Expendables 2.
