Robert Rodriguez’s Grind-house stint just got longer as he has announced that we will be getting the second installment of the planned trilogy off the ground sometime this year. Rodriguez is partnering with producer Alexander Rodnyansky to deliver a sequel titled
Machete Kills. Despite
Machete grossing a paltry $26 million at the domestic box-office, fan interest and solid DVD/Blu-Ray sales have been enough to further the exploits of the ‘baddest Mexican on the planet’. Presumably Danny Trejo will return as Machete. Rodriguez had this to say about the project…
“
“The fan response to the Machete character has been fanatical since his first appearance,” Rodriguez said. “
Machete is truly a super hero and
Machete Kills will be bigger and more ambitious than the first time.”
I guess there are fans for every type of movie, even bad ones.
