Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2012) – Trailer

Nicholas Cage is back as the flame faced superhero Ghost Rider. Originally that statement would have made me cringe, but after viewing the trailer for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance I’m not sure how I feel. The so called “sequel” seems almost like a reboot. One can only hope the film takes this approach and does everything in its power to move the franchise in a different direction. A darker feel combined with less cheesy smiles from Cage would go a long way at this point. Either way the trailer is entertaining, especially the last shot of the hero pissing a shower of flames. Look for Ghost Rider to return in February of 2012.

I’m curious to see what this one is like. I thought the first one had some really cool Southwestern aspects, and could’ve benefited from a smaller scale approach– doing something closer to U-Turn than Spiderman 3; but they had to throw in the bad cliches, like Cage standing Mendes up on a date, or Ghost Rider causing tens of thousands of damage in his wake by just driving his motorcycle. I’m holding out hope for this one though.

This trailer looks great. I liked the first film–I thought it was better than what many critics rated it. It looks like the second film might be better. Let’s hope.
