Underworld: Awakening (2012) – Trailer

Finally Selene is back! The new trailer for Underworld: Awakening won’t disappoint fans of the franchise, promising all the slick vampiric and hairy (hehe, this works in two ways… just look it up) action as the other three films. I wasn’t much of a fan of the third, mainly because they covered that entire story in the first movie, so why I’d want to watch it again in excruciatingly boring detail is beyond me. Regardless a lot of people liked it, sans the original cast except for Michael Sheen and Bill Nighy. And I am a huge fan of Rhona Mitra’s (I did name Doomsday as my #1 action film of 2008). This fourth installment takes us into the future, where humans now hunt vampires and lycans, and Scott Speedman is no longer (thank you, while I didn’t mind him he could get a little whiney). The directors, Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein, are fairly unproven, but then again so was Len Wiseman and they seem to have been able to capture Wiseman’s superb direction of action. And as always Kate Beckinsale is the kind of vampire you want to run into in a deserted alleyway. The 3D looks like it might be an afterthought, but you’d really have to catch this trailer in 3D to be sure. Do you think the beast at the end is Michael? Check it out and let us know what you think.

  1. I didn’t think the last one was bad but I question whether the idea was worth an entire movie. I have always been skeptical of prequels. If the events leading up to the original movie were that important, why didn’t the movie series start at the prequel and go forward.

  2. This series is one of the most unlikely franchises to spawn a fourth entry. Lets hope the original premise and concepts can be stretched further. I wasn’t impressed with the last one

  3. Eh.. I was SO looking forward to Scott Speedman reprising his role as Michael too – the first hybrid vampire-werewolf, Selene’s love interest, and the father of her child. It really sux that he won’t be in it.

  4. I like the trailer. It looks good so far. The idea that humans have caught on to being dinner and want to change the menu sounds like a good start. I enjoyed the first film and the third film, but I didn’t like the storyline of the second. I hope this next outing with Kate Beckinsale in the role of Selene works.
