Breast Men (1997) – Review

2 Stars

Breast Men tells the true story of two Texas plastic surgeons who performed and perfected the breast augmentation procedure. It’s a story worth telling with tragedy, redemption, villains, and greed. So, then why is this film is so dull? David Schwimmer and Chris Cooper do fine work as constantly at odds physicians. But, their high-level of work isn’t matched by the rudimentary retelling of this compelling story.

HBO films are renowned, particularly during this era, for their quality productions. That level of craftsmanship isn’t present here. Brest Men is a dark comedy with adult themes and a lot of nudity. Yet, it never develops the attitude or cynical edge that are requirements of the genre. The hard-working cast is left ineffectual in the face of such a mediocre retelling.
